Apple does it every so often, more times than I’m ready for. So I guess, that is our excuse for why we’ve updated our blog… again. We consider it our “software update”, or a new year itch to change things up. But really, a lot of it goes back to the fact that as much as I loved our old blog, there was something about where I always felt like I was standing in an Apple store when I really wanted to be a few stores down playing dress up in Betsey Johnson. And I started to realize, if I was feeling that way, brides might be feeling that way too. Even early on in the launch of our past blog, my mom said it upfront, “It’s cool, but it doesn’t feel very… bridal.” And over time, I started to feel like, and oh how I hate admitting this… she was right.
We really did love our old look. It was part of our newlywed phase of learning to compromise as we began to merge our lives and businesses together. To make it look hip and cool and modern like walking into an Apple store, because, well Stephen is obsessed with Apple stores. I told him I could compromise if he let me keep my hot pink in our branding. We tried it out, we even forked out a lot of money to get it custom designed. We loved it, we really did. But… but… I just simply missed my glam. My girlyness. My “hot pink in your face, so take that” that honestly worked for my branding in the past to attract brides who were also as obsessed with hot pink as I was. (I mean, hello, one of my past clients had wallpaper in her home that looked almost exactly like the wallpaper background of this blog. She even told me she hired me because of our mutual love of hot pink, ha!)
So as we approached the new year, we had our formal business meeting with the executives of our business (uh, me, him and our toy poodle, Rhett, of course). And we decided, it was time for something new. So we scouted a new way to take our blog back into our own hands with ProPhotoBlogs (and oh my gosh, how amazingly easy it was to create our blog with this!), and we flew in a fabulous cinematographer, Joel VanZ, from California, to create a promo video for us to fashion the top of new blog design.
Now here we are…. Blog 2.0. Back to girly glam fabulous. Back to my obsession with hot pink. And thankfully I have a husband who doesn’t mind all my pinkness, afterall, it was because he was man enough to wear pink shirts that I fell for him in the first place. (I knew when we went shopping for the first time and he agreed to try on a pink shirt for me, that he was “the one.” ha!) With our old blog, it was hard for me to get inspired to write, but now, with a chandelier hanging in the corner, how can I NOT be inspired? One of my New Year’s resolution was to write more in 2012. I did graduate with a journalism degree afterall, and I simply… miss…writing. And I continue to get gracious emails from all of you saying you miss my words I wrote more often the 5 years I spent blogging before getting distracted with planning a wedding and getting married last year (which I’m still shocked anyone truly cared enough to notice how I have slowed down.) So you have permission, if I start slacking again, keep me accountable, ok?
