Our Day...At The Zoo!

With the weather being so beautiful lately, we have been taking the opportunity to get out and about as much as possible.
Tyne has yet to be introduced to the majority of the sights of Devon as we moved here toward the start of Autumn when the weather was turning cold for the winter, and so I've been so looking forward to some better weather so that we can start enjoying the many perks of living in this part of the country.
During the warmer months, I really start to appreciate how lucky we are to live in Devon - there are so many beautiful beaches and seaside towns right on our doorstep, as well as some of the most picturesque villages in the UK and some real hidden gems as well as a lot of tourist focused fun activities.
I have made it my goal this year to get out and explore the areas around us more, and infact to explore the whole of the UK - so many of us flock away abroad on holiday each year without having seen most of what the UK has to offer.
“So when LOOK recently contacted me and asked me to contribute to their map of hidden gems, which shows well-loved but perhaps not so well known places to visit right here in the UK, I was delighted to get involved- especially when my favorite place in the UK happens to be right on our doorstep! You are never short of a day out in Sunny Devon!
Last week, we took Tyne for his very trip to the Zoo!
Paignton Zoo is a real hidden treasure in the UK....it has all the animals you could hope for, and is a beautiful place for a leisurely stoll around - but it's tucked away in quaint little Paington so it's never over run with people.

As you arrive at the zoo, you're greeted by some beautiful pink flamingoes - Tyne showed very little interest in these and any other creature that resembled a bird! - so we didn't spend a lot of time here.

Although Jon is much more interested in these sorts of things, and insisted on going into the bird house display to take photos....I personally can't think of anything worse than going into an enclosed space with birds flying freely around my head, so I stayed outside!

Tyne soon decided he wasn't at all interested in staying in his pram for this exciting day out, so we took it in turns to carry him around - he really seemed to enjoy this as it meant he had a great view of all the animals!
The baboons and monkeys are always my favorite part of any zoo, so we spent a good 20 minutes at Baboon Rock just watching them all! There was a tiny baby baboon being nursed by its mother, which was really lovely to see (And impossible to photograph!)

There was a petting zoo section called "The Ranch" where goats and sheep were roaming around freely....Tyne seemed a little bemused by the whole experience, and I was slightly nervous that the goats may smell his milk in the changing bag and start eating it....but it was fun nonetheless!

There were lots of little play areas and parks dotted around the zoo, which I thought was a lovely addition - a place for the adults to sit and rest their poor tired feet while the kids had fun on the climbing frames and swings!

And there was no shortage of impressive and beautiful animals on display, of course....

We had such a lovely day here, and we were so pleased that Tyne really enjoyed it too

And the glorious sunshine certainly helped make it all the more enjoyable...long may it last!
