Our Home: Adding a Touch of Nature with Homebase #LifeImprovement

A few weeks ago I wrote this post, where I told you that I was going to be taking part in a #Lifeimprovement collaboration with Homebase and Oliver Heath, looking at if improvements made to our homes can improve our personal wellbeing. For my part in the campaign, I was asked to focus on indoor plants.
Being that I work from home and have both a young baby and a nearly three year old, I spend a lot of time inside at home. I often like to 'escape' for some fresh air and will often take the boys out over to our local park - we love being outside and I love getting out and about, being outdoors helps my mind feel refreshed and inspired. So adding a touch of the great outdoors and of nature by using indoor plants to our home made sense - it's a wonder I hadn't though of doing so before, especially since indoor plants themselves are generally quite inexpensive.
During a recent trip to Homebase we had fun browsing the indoor plant section, picking out different sorts of plants and pots to match the style of decor in our home. I'm really pleased with what we choose and after picking out little spots in our home for the new plants to live, I honestly feel like they were always meant to be there. It's almost like I can't imagine our home without a few little indoor plants scattered about the place now. My favorite has to be the big Areca palm on our landing, I wasn't sure it it was too big to live there, but we've really grown to love having it there, we see it so often as we're always going up and down the stairs and it's made such a difference already.

Another of my favourites is the bonsai tree that lives in our window sill, next to the computer in the room Adam and I do our work in. Adding a plant in there was what I was most excited about, as I often feel a little boxed in when I'm in there for hours working.

I'm going to be writing an update in a week or so where I'll be exploring whether or not I feel that adding indoor plants to our home has helped improve our wellbeing in anyway.
