Our House, #904

When I look back to my childhood, so many of my memories took place in the two childhood homes I grew up in.  I lived in the first home until I was 10-years-old.  It was a sweet little house next door to two neighbors (one on either side) who I remember practically spending every waking moment with.  The second home was across town and larger.  My parents have an ability to make every living space they’ve ever had warm and comforting though, and the larger home really fills my head with happy recollections, too.

Most of the images in my mind from those houses were just that.  There are family photos from those days, but I rarely see any of them.  In fact, I’m not even sure what my parents have done with the photo albums.  Yesterday, those mental images turned back to reality.

My brother emailed me.  The larger home that we lived in my older childhood was up for sale.  There was a link attached to the email with 25 photos from the current owners.  I was overwhelmed with memories and emotion going through each picture.  Check out this gorgeous home I used to live in. (P.S.  We would have never have painted the front door sky blue.  What were the new owners thinking?)

I became curious about the other home, so I Google searched the address.  Omg!  It’s up for sale, too!  I couldn’t believe it.  More photos to jog my memory.  Check it out.  This is the home my parents brought me to when I came home from the hospital when I was born.  I barely remember it, but yet, it is so familiar, too.

What an incredible experience to see these photos.  My brother is trying to convince me to move back to our home town to buy the houses and raise my family in them.  Wouldn’t that be incredible?  Of course, it’s not going to happen, but it’s absolutely amazing that it could if I really wanted it to.

So, my song of the day is Crosby, Stills and Nash’s “Our House,” because your home really is where your heart is.  CLICK HERE to hear the song, as these two homes really do have a big piece of my heart in them.
