We decided to have an after party because Antrim’s weddings end on the early side of things (9:30). We knew that our guests would love to continue partaking in the festivities and the area surrounding Antrim (Taneytown) is about as small town farm country as you can it. So that meant that we would need to provide the space for the after party. Luckily, my Mom jumped in and offered to let us use the house they rented out.
Enter the Birnie House. It was the perfect place for an after party because it had a huge porch out front that connected to the main common areas inside. We set up a bunch of coolers outside with beer, wine and soda. Inside in the dining room, we had some local pizza and breadsticks delivered as well as food leftover from our morning breakfast. My aunt, out of the sweetness of her heart, also made cookies on a lollipop that matched our pink and gray wedding theme.
After we got changed, my hubby and I took the 100 yard walk over to my parent’s rented house. By the time we got there, people were already digging into the pizza and taking over the porch. It was so nice to be able to spend some extra time with our family members and friends.
I was really lucky because most of my family and friends decided to stay on property at Antrim so they were happy to stay for the extra festivities. People stayed for until the wee hours of the morning talking and drinking…some a little heavier on the drinking part. But that’s okay. Several of my family members decided to use their belly band place cards as bracelets. This way, in case they didn’t make it back to their room, they could still be identified.
Mr. A and I, on the other hand, didn’t last nearly as long. We definitely scarfed down some much needed pizza and drinks. But after a few hours of hanging out my voice was totally gone. We said our goodbyes and headed back to honeymoon suite to indulge in the wedding cake and champagne that Antrim had sweetly laid out.
We didn’t make it too far into the cake before we both passed out in bed. It was a crazy, long amazing day, the best of my life so far, but we both knew we’d have to be up again at the butt crack of dawn for our breakfast the next morning. I would have to say that I don’t think I’ve ever slept so well. I just married the man of my dreams; nights don’t end much better than that.
