The other day, I attended a talk by Jim Mallonee, Vice President of Southeast Booking for Live Nation Worldwide, Inc./House of Blues Entertainment, Inc. Some good talking point included things to never say in an interview, methodologies on keeping your job, etc. The two points I can extract most easily for us writers is work hard and manipulate people's imaginations (his word, persuade if you prefer) to get them on board with your stuff.
