…owe Canada

Fret not, this is not a post about national debt, at least not in the financial sense.  Yesterday was Canada Day and for many Canucks a day of heartbreak.

As proud Canadians across the globe took to their Apple devices to share their national pride they were faced with a horrible truth: there is no emoji of the Canadian flag.

For those unfamiliar with emoji, it is a wonderful font that consists entirely of small images.  So instead of going through the hassle of typing out monkey, for example, emoji allows you to insert a small image of a monkey.  Ah the wonders of modern technology.

Back to the point, along with an impressive collection of animals from monkeys to turtles to dragons, emoji features a fairly extensive gallery of national flags. Nations deemed worthy by the programmers include the U.S., Spain, Japan, Great Britain, and many others.

Yes, I believe this is what the kids would refer to as a “first-world problem,” but I think someone owes the people of Canada an apology.  Although knowing their national capacity for niceness they’re probably cool with it.

I only hope Canada was still able to enjoy their holiday. With that I wish you a happy day after Canada Day Canucks, stay strong.
