PETA Fundraiser Using Leetchi #SP

Posted on the 02 March 2017 by Sparklesandstretchmarks @raine_fairy

Nowadays, I'm pretty sure none of us would purchase make up or beauty products knowing that they had been tested on animals and similarly the notions of wearing fur or hunting for sport seem almost incomprehensible. Yet sadly these, and other terrible acts of animal cruelty still occur even in this enlightened age.
There are many charity organisations that exist to help stamp out animal cruelty in all forms and raise awareness of animal suffering. Probably the most famous is PETA, or People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
A new campaign to raise money for PETA has been launched on the 21st February and I wanted to tell you more about it.
PETA Fundraiser Using Leetchi #SP
Some of you may recall a recent campaign organised by former Made in Chelsea star Lucy Watson. In that campaign, Lucy spearheaded a campaign for PETA to try to encourage people to lose their feather bedding by stripping down to her underwear and posing with bedding made from man made fibres. The 'Choose Comfort not Cruelty' campaign was a huge success and raised awareness of the suffering caused to ducks and geese during the manufacturing of feather bedding...something which. I'll be totally honest, had never actually occurred to me until I saw the campaign.
Well Lucy has now launched a new online fundraising campaign with the assistance of her Pomeranian dog Digby. This latest campaign is seeking to raise £10,000 using the online fundraising site Leetchi.com with 100% of the funds raised going to PETA.
As some of you may know, Lucy has a passion for animal rights and in a recent campaign video shot at her home, Lucy explains why she has decided to become more involved and hands on with her fight to abolish to animal cruelty. Sadly Lucy lost her family pet cat aged 17 on Valentines Day. Tweeting about her loss, Lucy said 'My family cat Phoebe passed away earlier today aged 17. She was my best friend as a little girl and always by my side. RIP gorgeous.'

To help promote the campaign Lucy is also running a competition. By sharing the campaign post and using the campaign hashtag #LWfundraiser, you could be in with a chance to win prizes from Lucy's cruelty free cosmetic range Basic Bitch. There'll be 3 random winners chosen on the 14th March from Twitter and Instagram.
In addition to this campaign, Lucy will be heading out to Australia in the near future to visit animal shelters in an effort to become even more hands on with her animal rights campaigning.
Leetchi.com CEO and Founder, Celine Lazorthes has commented 'We're very proud to be supporting Lucy's campaign initiative to raise awareness and funding for PETA. We believe that enabling everyone to make online donations to worthy causes should be easier and more accessible to everyone.'
PETA was founded in 1980 and is recognised as one of the worlds leading and most influential animal charities. They campaign tirelessly against animal cruelty including fur farming, animal testing and factory farming to name but a few practices still being carried out. If an issue involving animal cruelty pings up on their radar, you can be sure PETA will do everything they can to put a stop to it.
