There is nothing better than visiting a new place and being able to experience their culture and wildlife.
Besides cats and dogs, there are many other animals that some exotic animals around the world including turtles, lizards, chinchillas, alpacas and more. Some of which you can see in the UK, others you have to travel to see.

1. Alpacas
Alpacas are often confused with llamas. However, alpacas are calm animals and can even make great pets because they’re compassionate, lovely, and have a unique fleece coat that is amazing to touch all the while being remarkably hypoallergenic when compared to cats and dogs!

2. Fennec Fox
A lot of people love the playfulness of dogs along with the cuteness and clumsiness of cats. Surprisingly, fennec foxes will provide you with the best of both worlds! You can see fennec foxes in their natural habitats in North Africa.
These foxes are incredibly cute and aloof. While they’re still wild animals, they can still be great pets because they’re pretty social and smart!
3. Sugar Gliders
Some people love to adopt chinchillas, hamsters, rabbits, and other rodents. While they’re super cute, some of these rodents can be a bit disappointing because they don’t easily bond with their owners.
Sugar gliders, on the other hand, are super active and fun while staying lovely and open for friendship and bonding. The pocket-sized pet isn’t actually a rodent, but more closely related to the koala.
Sugar gliders are from Australia but are a common pet in the UK.
4. Axolotl
Axolotls, also known as the Walking Mexican Fish, are one of the most bizarre and unique creatures you may have seen in your life!
It lives in water and acts like a fish while moving around like a lizard or a salamander! They also have a set of external gills, which is the inspiration for thePokemon ‘Wooper’.
5. African Pygmy Hedgehogs
Spiky but lovely! A lot of people don’t know that some hedgehogs species are excellent pets. They’re lovely and compassionate once they establish a good relationship with the owner.
Since they require specific handling, owning an African Pygmy hedgehog might have a learning curve, so they’re usually not recommended as your first ever pet.
Yet, they’re excellent contenders if you’re an experienced pet owner who’s up for a rewarding challenge!
6. Bearded Dragon
From their name to their characteristic spiny scales, everything about bearded dragons is exotic!
However, according to many owners, bearded dragons might be the only species of lizard or reptiles in general that actually have some affection towards humans!
Beardies are easy to maintain once you get the hang of it and are pretty lazy, so there is no playtime and out of enclosure obligations that you have to do.
