…pick and Choose

Posted on the 01 July 2012 by Zer @the2women

Life is full of choices.  Some menial and unimportant—right or left sock first?  Some a little more thought-provoking—white or wheat?  And others are just completely perplexing—Abraham Lincoln or Peter Parker?

This week, 2WC found ourselves debating which summer blockbuster would be featured this coming Friday.  So naturally, we tackled it 2WC style. Shockingly, Flick Friday isn’t all popcorn and blockbusters.  The Summer of Blockbusters does not simply fall into perfectly scheduled place, difficult decisions must be made.

With that, we present a special behind-the-scenes moment with 2WC as we present Abraham Lincoln (Stephanie) vs. Peter Parker (Zer):

Abraham Lincoln:

No offense to Mr. Parker, but there is not competition here. The Great Emancipator+ Vampire Hunter=Unbeatable. It’s simple math.

Sure it may have tanked at the box office, but is that any reason to not give this gloriously rewritten history of one of history’s greatest leaders a shot? I think not. It’s got so many things going for it—a great title, a great book (read it, loved it), a great cast, a great villain (it’s hard to beat vampires),and a great president. I see no bad here.

Plus, it’s so insanely horrible in its concept that it must be brilliant. Otherwise, why would you bother? It’s the “Cowboys and Aliens” theory. How bad can it be?

 Peter Parker/Spider-man:

With superior intelligence and strength, plus the need to fight for what is right;  Peter Parker is in many ways a modern-day Abraham Lincoln.  Which makes it surprisingly hard to match the two up against one another.  True, Spider-man is a bit flashier with his red a blue unitard and face mask.  But at the end of the day, Spider-man gets to be Peter Parker (ideally, we all know it never quite works out that way for our superheroes with secret identities).  Spider-man’s flashiness provides Peter Parker with some anonymity, something which our vampire slaying 16th president, surely would have appreciated a bit more of.

In that spirit of humility and doing the right thing, we’ll give this one to Abraham.  After all, with great power comes great responsibility…it’s all yours, Abe.

Hope you enjoyed this glimpse into the inner-workings of 2WC…don’t worry, “Spider-man” will be featured soon too.
