I don't know about you, but for me January feels like a pretty bleak month - the weather isn't great, the finances have taken a bit of a hit after Christmas and I find myself waiting for payday to roll around and sort of wishing the month away.
One way I like to pass the time is playing the "What I'd Do If I Won The Lottery" game in my head - a favorite pastime of mine! - and after I've planned out all of the elaborate holidays I'd take (world cruise anybody?!) and the designer handbags I'd buy (1 Mulberry or two?!) - I turn my attention to my dream home.
I've come to the conclusion that I will never be able to win enough money to make every aspect of my fantasy home a reality, but I would one day like to at least be able to stretch to turning my dream garden into a reality.
My dream garden looks something like this...
Here are the key features I'd love to have.
A Dedicated Play Area
Complete with playground equipment and a pretty little wooden house for the kids, an outdoor blackboard area, and their own little veggie patch for learning to grow their own vegetables too.
An Above Ground Pool
I've always dreamed of having a pool of my own as I love swimming but hate dealing with public swimming pools, so this would be just ideal for me and I think I would spend all of my time out there.
I've been reading up on the best above ground pool reviews about the benefits to an above ground pool are many, including:
*Safer for toddlers and animals as their raised level makes it much harder for them to fall in
*They don't require constant running water or as many chemicals either
*No digging of land required and you can even move them around the property or take them with you if you move home
*You can build a deck around them to really make the area look special
Above ground pools usually come in a kit delivered to your door, to be installed by a team of professionals or you can even do it yourself so they're nowhere near as pricey as a sunken pool can be...ideal!
A Decking & Seating Area
Tying in with the above ground pool, I would love to have a raised decking area where Jon & I could sit with a cup of tea (or a glass of wine maybe!) and watch the kids playing - I love the look of the lighting in the above example, I can just imagine how relaxing it would be to spend the summer evenings sitting out here.
A Summer House
I just love the idea of a little quiet space to be used either as an office for me, or even as just a little relaxation area where I could sneak off and curl up with a book in peace every now and then - somewhere with lots of comfortable cushions and pretty fairy lights - how blissful would that be!
What would be in your own dream garden? I'd love to hear your ideas!
