Owning Difference
Strangers sense difference, stare,
try to define the unacceptable trait…
The kindest adjective they find is exotic.
“What are you anyway?”
I own difference not because I chose it,
but because love made it inevitable.
Refusing to vanish, I can only answer with
my dark name.
