Preparing For A Little One: Nursery Organization & Ideas {Link Up}My friend Jennifer and I came up with a great idea that I absolutely love. As you know, I am expecting my first child. This can be so overwhelming and I know that other first time moms probably feel the same. I have so many questions and would love to hear the opinions of moms who have already been through this a time or two before.

Because of this, we are hosting a weekly series for a few weeks to try and get some answers to some of the most common questions.

We divided the series into two mini 4 week series grouped into questions Pre-Baby & Post Baby.

The first mini series will be:

Friday, April 5: Registering (Everything you need to know, Must Haves, Don't Bothers, etc...)Friday, April 12: Nursery Organization & IdeasFriday, April 19: Packing For The Hospital: For you & the babyFriday, April 26: Birth Stories (The good, bad, and ugly) / Birth Plans (yes? no?)

The second mini series will be:

Friday, May 3: Bringing Baby Home / Surviving The First Few WeeksFriday, May 10: Breast Feeding vs. FormulaFriday, May 17: Calming Your Baby & Sleep MethodsFriday, May 24: Losing The Baby Weight

So without further ado, let's get on with Week 2: Nursery Organization & Ideas! Since I do not have any children of my own yet, I will be featuring a blogger each week and their expert advice on the topic at hand (:

Nursery Organization & Ideas

Preparing For A Little One: Nursery Organization & Ideas {Link Up}Hello to all the pretty little Wifessionals lovers out there. I'm Tiffany from The Austin Family Diary and I'm here to chat about organizing your little one's nursery.
Organization is something near and dear to my heart. Who doesn't love a well organized life? I'm the girl that enjoys organizing her pantry or making that to-do list and writing everything down, just for the satisfaction of crossing it off my list. So I knew I was totally going to love organizing little man's nursery. I had pinned a few "nursery organization" pins back in the day, knowing that I'd eventually need them. They definitely came in handy when I started to put all of Elliott's goodies into their proper places.
A couple tips I have before I go into how I organized our nursery are:- Get a good set of storage bins
- Figure out what's important to you as far as what you think you're going to need right at your fingertips
- Don't start organizing until you've had all of your showers. This way you don't have to reorganize after each one. You'll be able to access all your goodies and get a better idea of where things are going to fit.
The key thing for me was purchasing drawer organizers. I went with the SKUBB series from IKEA. They are perfect for the drawers and keep everything together.
SKUBB Box, set of 6 IKEA Keeps socks, belts, jewelry etc. organized in your chest of drawers or wardrobe.I also purchased storage bins for the closet shelf. The ones I bought were the DRONA Storage Boxes from IKEA in blue. I love them because they are huge and fit our closet shelf perfect.
DRÖNA Box IKEA This box is suitable for storing everything from newspapers and magazines to your clothes.I planned out how I wanted our dresser to be organized based off the fact that our changing station was also our dresser. I knew I wanted all the diaper changing essentials right at my finger tips in the top two drawers. Since our little guy isn't due for another few weeks, this is what I envisioned as essentials for a quick and easy diaper change:
- Diapers and wipes (obvi)- Onesies and socks- Pacifiers
I haven't looked into any kind of powder/ointment yet since who knows what he'll need, but I'm sure any of these added things will be placed in these drawers as well.
Our next set of drawers are his blankets, bibs, extra sheets, and teethers. Not something we'll use everyday (or maybe we will, who knows) but it seemed like a good place for these things.
The third set of drawers includes a stocked organizer of diapers that are ready to be moved to the top drawer when needed, burp cloths and my breast feeding goodies. Since I'll be doing most of our feedings in the nursery, I figured I'd need these essentials in here.

Our closet is pretty simple. The storage bins are separated by categories:
- Blankets (mostly special hand made ones)- Bath (lotions, hooded towels, wash cloths)- Kitchen gear (sippy cups, spoons, bottles if needed, Boon grass pad, etc)- Toys-Stuffed animals

All of his clothes are hanging in the closet (who can resist those tiny little hangers?) and will be separated by months soon (craft project to come). We've stacked the diapers that people have given to us by size. Once we decide which diapers work best for us, we'll take the ones that aren't that brand back. We decided to put a bookshelf in his closet for extra storage. Right now it doesn't have too much on it, but I know we'll fill it up soon. Lastly we have the gifts that we haven't taken out of the boxes yet like our playmat, sleep and play and humidifier. I know we'll take everything out in time, but for now it's doing just fine in the box :)

I hope this helps with your nursery organization! It's a big task but you'll be so happy when it's done and everything has it's own special place.
