Pursuing Poppies

Posted on the 20 June 2013 by Leah @ Oppositeocean @leahcb

I love flowers, all kinds really. Big fragrant peonie blooms; tiny delicate buttercups; and even the bright yellow ones adults spend a lot of time trying to convince children are actually weeds – yes, dandelions. Belgium’s great for flowers. There’s an abundance of rain and the temperature is usually fairly mild. You don’t really ever have to worry about your pretty petunias getting scorched by a Kansas-like summer sun. Maybe we’ll reach 90 degrees (32 Celsius) sometime this summer, but I won’t be holding my breath.

Poppies

——————————————————————————–

Some of my favorite flowers as of late are the poppies. They grow wildly and I think that’s part of the reason I really like them. I love the contrast between their bright reddish-orange color and the vibrant green of the grass. I think they are just beautiful, delicate little flowers, packed full of a powerful punch of color. I’ve tried to pick them before and bring them inside but they have always seemed to wilt so quickly. I decided to go on a poppy quest to capture all the pops of color with the camera and share them here where they are sure to be safe from wilting.
