Taste Test
We love Nachos either as a special lunchtime treat or inspired by our visit to The Diner in Butlins topped with pulled pork which makes a fantastic dinner all the family can enjoy. Ben loves helping me prepare them and stealing the odd sneaky nacho before they actually go in the oven of course. When they do come out, all tomatoey and oozing with cheese, then topped with Zesty Jalapeno Relish, Chunky Guacamole and Creamy Cool topping it's safe to say they get snapped up quickly. We were sent two One Pan Rice kits, the Garlic and Chili one and the milder Lime and Corriander.
Last night we tried out the Tortilla Bake, this was the one I was most excited about tasting as we all love both lasagne and tortillas in this house so it seemed like a fantastic combination.
It was easy to make, you just fry up peppers, onions, beef mince and I added some sweetcorn too, stir in the sauce and some cheese until it is all melted and then get layering which Ben decided was his job. You place two tortilla wraps slightly overlapping in each layer, cover them with the mince, repeat three times and then finally top with the creamy sauce and sprinkle with cheese which goes lovely and gooey and crispy at the edges after fifteen minutes in the oven. The finished result was a hit, especially with Ben who not only had seconds but thirds. It is a very filling dish and mild enough for children so makes a great family meal especially if served with some nice crisp salad to accompany it.
I have yet to try out the Creamy Poblano Pepper and Smoky Chipotle Chili and Honey Casserole Recipe Mixes so look out for updates on twitter and Instagram and further posts.
We were also sent some of the accompanying sauces including Chunky Guacamole and Cool Creamy Topping topping both of which go great with nachos and the tortilla bake and our favorite the Zesty Jalape単o Relish which is not only seriously yummy with all the Mexican dishes but great with barbecue foods too such as burgers and hot dogs.
Verdict
We loved putting the Old el Paso range to the taste test, the meals we made were not only fun to make for me and my little helper Ben, but nutritious, tasty and a hit with everyone young and old. We are definitely big fans and will be adding these Mexican delights to our regular food shop.*Disclaimer: I was sent a range of Old el Paso goodies for free in exchange for a review. We have loved cooking with them and definitely give a thumbs up - all views and opinions are my own and 100% honest.
