Random Acts of Kindness

Whether they be simple little gestures or something monumental, in this world so full of hate and violence it truly warms the heart to know there are people out there still caring about one another. Let me tell you my little story.

I live in the mountains of Arizona and this week we have been hit by storms bringing snow and severe cold. Sunday I woke up with no heat. The snow hadn’t started yet but I knew it was coming. I called the mobile home park managers and let them know. I knew there was nothing that could be done on a Sunday but I wanted to be on the list for Monday. The property handyman, Josh, couldn’t make it to my place Monday, something more pressing came up and I completely understand. The storm hadn’t hit yet so I was ok. I have a small room heater and that was doing a good job for my living room. Things didn’t really go south until Wednesday night, when the snow started and the temps dropped severely. I hardly slept Wednesday night do to the severe cold in my bedroom, the little space heater doesn’t do the job for 2 rooms. Eventually I did warm up and fell asleep.

Thursday the repair man was finally able to get to me and sadly my furnace needs parts ordered. So I was prepared to sleep in my living room under my electric throw blanket. But as I was getting ready to take a shower, i had moved my little heater into the bathroom, the property manager was knocking on my door with another heater for me to use. I didn’t cry in front of him but when I plugged it in and felt the warmth coming from this little, yet powerful heater, I sat down and had a cry. It’s not often that people show such kindness to others anymore.

People really do take for granted what they have until they no longer have it. So I will use my 2 little heaters, with great appreciation until my furnace can be repaired. Hopefully today :)

This is how I was spending my cold snow day

Electric throw blanket, kindle and a hot cup of tea.

Be kind to one another. It truly is appreciated.

*side note*….I got yelled at over text messages for not telling one of my dearest friends that I had no heat…lesson learned ;)
