Reassessment

Just as soon as I say I'm taking a sabbatical, I suddenly feel inspired. Isn't that the way it always happens? Well at least with me, it is! :)

A fellow Pagan friend is taking an online class in Druidry. I have been very inquisitive about the class, as Druidry was one path I pursued early on. My friend has been kind enough to share her "homework" or essays with me. After reading three (3) of them today, I now remember what initially drew me to Druidry.
The relationship with Nature is intoxicating. When I first heard about Druidry, I thought these were the "tree huggers" (no offense to anyone) of the world. I found out how wrong and judgemental I had been. I read a few books on the path and truly was inspired yet I felt something was "missing" because I had not read anything on God as an actual "being". I also, for whatever reason which has yet to be determined, felt an extreme closeness to the symbol of the Awen.

This is when I started my pursuit into Asatru. Initially, I was drawn to the strength I felt from the Norse Gods. A connection to Vikings as a power figure. Then, I found the Mjolnir. It embraced me! I embraced it and Thor (as my God) back. But yet I am still feeling something is "missing".
I've been trying to combine my beliefs in Asatru and my love for Thor (not really as a God but as a brother type figure) with Nature. So far I have been successful and am content.
Content does not mean total happiness. So although I am drawn to one path, I continue to feel drawn to another. This is where I begin to pick and choose from both paths and make them my own.
My path has been forever changing, as I learn more about myself and what I truly believe in. As my search for happiness continues, my beliefs are becoming for defined. The best is yet to come!
