According to a study published in the March issue of the journal of the American Psychological Association, men are more likely to demonstrate narcissistic behavior than women.
If this comes as a surprise, I’d like to direct your attention to the beauty and fashion industries, which are pretty much dedicated to making women feel less than adequate…unless you buy that dress, and wear it with these shoes and this lip color. Of course, by the time you’ve acquired all of these must have items, they’re out of style within a month.
If you’re still not convinced, then lets break this down to semantics. After all, there is a difference between wanting to look nice, and being a narcissist. A narcissist would never “want” to look nice, because they know that they’re always the best looking and smartest person in the room.
Although, ladies, before we quietly declare ourselves superior, let’s at least admit that there’s something to be said for a little narcissism. While we may be proud to be the fairer sex, now and then, it’s okay to toot our own horn. After all, while we may know that we’re fabulous, it doesn’t hurt to remind the rest of the world occasionally.
