As for me, I want to do more physical activities, since this past year I've evolved into a couch potato and I hate it! So goal one: exercise daily. Also, procrastination: I have a serious procrastination problem that I'm already trying to fix. So far it's been going great as I veer away from the stress that is procrastination. I wasn't as bad as before (I'll tell you all about it in another post). My goal for 2012 is to eliminate it completely. Finally, I want to finish the novel I've been working on. You hear that, friends-that-have-been-relentlessly-pushing-me-to-get-back-into-it? You know who you are. I will finish it. IT WILL BE DONE BY DECEMBER 30th 2012 AT THE LATEST!!
If I were to name all my resolutions to you, it would be a ridiculously long post. Instead, I've compiled a list of five things that you might be interested in considering for your own resolutions.
- Do you have a cluttered lifestyle? How about trying to de-clutter your space. Studies have shown that a messy atmosphere lead to stress and negative emotions. Make an effort to organize your closets, drawers, floors, maybe even redecorating. Having this organized space helps you stay at ease and may even encourage you to get work done.
- Are you a procrastinator? Make schedules and tell yourself, "If I get this done, I can ___." Get things done and reward yourself with something you like to do, be it watch a show or a movie, read a book, go online, whatever makes you happy. This will motivate you to keep working and hopefully get things done ahead of time.
- Be yourself. In society today, there is a lot of pressure in getting people to like you based on their standards, not yours. My advice is this: stay true to yourself and do things that make you happy. When I was younger, I used to love writing, but I'd never pursue it because everybody I knew at that time was into basketball. Now, while people go out for football games or pep rallies, I'll be up blogging or working on my writing. Yeah it might not sound fun to you, but that's who I am, and that's what I do.
- SMS less! Have you noticed that conversations with people face to face have become awkward? That's because we send too many text messages and not physically talk anymore. Maybe we should work on talking to people more and texting less.
- Eat better, healthier food. There's a lot of food out now that has little or no nutritional value. Maybe you can cut down on snacks and fast food and eat more home cooked meals and fill your body with things that may actually benefit you. I'm not saying cut it out completely, just minimize unhealthy food intake.
