Retreating.

To retreat, according to Merriam-Webster online is as follows:
  • an act or process of withdrawing especially from what is difficult, dangerous, or disagreeable
  • the process of receding from a position or state attained
  • a place of privacy or safety
  • a period of group withdrawal for prayer, meditation, study, or instruction under a director
This weekend, I am retreating. It's not specifically because of the events of recent weeks, it just happens that this previously planned retreat comes at a good time.
It's been a difficult month since my sister's wedding. There's been a lot for me to think about and process through and come to terms with. My life has changed drastically since my big sister got married, and however unexpected that change was, it's something I must learn to deal with and overcome.
And so, this weekend I am going away. I am going away to the mountains to spend some time alone, some time with God, some time with other believers. I'm hoping it will be able to help me process through this more. To give me a new perspective on it. And give me time to gather myself and continue to press on in light of these difficult circumstances.
I hope you all have a lovely fall weekend and that it is filled with all kinds of good and wonderful things, whether that means busyness or relaxation.
I've got a few changes in the works for how things are here around Shades of Shayes that I will hopefully be sharing with you all in the next couple of weeks and I hope this weekend solidifies some of those ideas as well.
I'll be off the grid this weekend, but back around on Monday, with some lovely pictures, I'm sure. Happy Friday, all!
