As you can probably tell from my latest reviews that I have been doing a fair bit of shopping in Aldi recently. The other day I reviewed their Mini Choc Chip Panettone and last week I reviewed the Choceur Mozartkugeln. Today is a review on another product from the Choceur range; this time it is Choceur Belgian Milk Chocolate Truffles.
These truffles were cheap, I can't remember the exact price but they were under £2.00. They are described as flaked milk chocolate with a truffle filling.
The packaging is not the greatest, the truffles were in a sort of plastic tray in a very basic cardboard box, but then you get what you pay for I suppose. You do get a good amount of truffles in the box but they looked quite messy as bits of flaked chocolate had come off and gathered in the bottom of the tray. I will be honest and say that I did not have high expectations for these truffles but actually they were surprisingly good!
The chocolate was very nice and of a good quality and the truffle center was delicious. I liked the idea of the smooth creamy truffle with the chocolate flakes, it was an interesting combination of textures. I have tried something similar to these truffles in the past, I can't remember the make but they were a lot more expensive and I reckon that these Choceur Truffles were nicer!
Verdict
From what I have tried so far, I have been very impressed with the Choceur range. I really like the milk chocolate that they use and I guess this just goes to show that just because something is cheap and comes in cheap packaging, it doesn't mean that the contents won't be good.
