Bake At Home are a fairly new company who specialise in artisan baking kits and luxury baking mixes. They also have a range of gluten and dairy free mixes and a range designed just for kids.
I was sent a Flowerpot Bread Making Kit which costs £15. It was very nicely presented in it's box and inside was 4 small terracotta flowerpots, a bread mix, some yeast and some instructions.
The instructions were clear and simple to follow and I easily managed to make the 4 little flowerpot rolls and don't they look cute? I would love to serve these for a posh afternoon tea, but Mr Review Addict and I just ate them with butter on and they were very tasty. The bread certainly had a comforting homemade feel to it and I really enjoyed the herby taste and the crunch from the pumpkin seeds.
I liked that you had everything that you needed in this little kit, I never would have thought to make bread in flowerpots but quite liked the idea from a presentation sort of view.
Personally I do think that £15 is expensive to make 4 bread rolls so it is not the sort of kit that I would be buying for myself on a regular basis but I don't think that is necessarily the idea of Bake at Home. These are luxury kits and mixes so I think that they would make lovely gifts and I would definitely consider buying one of the cake mixes if I was having guests round.
Verdict
The flowerpot bread was delicious and simple to make which is all you really ask for from a baking mix. Bake at Home are clearly sitting themselves at the higher end of the market but the product that I experienced backs this up and I bet their cookie and cake mixes are equally delicious!
