REVIEW! Border Biscuits Chocolate Chip Cookies

When Border Biscuits offered to send me some biscuits to review, I was expecting just 1 box but when a huge parcel with 5 boxes arrived I was thrilled as you can imagine so a big thank you to Border Biscuits! Now that I have a lot of biscuits to get through, this week will be Border Biscuits Week!
Border Biscuits is a Scottish company based in Lanarkshire and was founded in 1984 by John Cunningham. Last year they were named the UK's best biscuit producer in the Food Manufacturing Excellence Awards and were also awarded the title of Cakes and Biscuits Company of the Year.
So to kick off Border Biscuits Week I am starting with their Chocolate Chip Cookies.  Border has been baking these for over 25 years and they are described as light, crunchy and chock-full of chocolate.  There are 10 cookies in the box and each one is 74 calories.

I absolutely love the packaging of these biscuits; I like that you can see the cookies through the clear lid and the box is simple but it looks high-end to me. I have to confess that I have never tried Border Biscuits before so I assumed from the packaging that they would be quite expensive. When I looked on various supermarket websites I couldn't find these Chocolate Chip Cookies but I did see lots of other Border Biscuits varieties and I was really surprised to see that they retail from £1-£2 per box.
The Chocolate Chip Cookies are a lovely golden brown and I could see little sparkly bits from the sugar. They smelt deliciously biscuity as you would expect and I could also see lots of chocolate chips as promised.

The cookie was indeed light and airy and it had a very satisfying snap when I broke it. They had a nice crunch to them and the taste was sweet and had a hint of golden syrup and vanilla. The plain chocolate chips were a decent size and evenly distributed throughout the cookie.
Verdict
My husband and I both really enjoyed these Chocolate Chip Cookies, they have a fantastic texture and taste great; a great start to Border Biscuits Week!
