I'm not a whisky drinker but I am rather fond of boozy chocolate. My mother in law gave this bar to me and as Butlers in not a brand that I have tried before I was only too pleased to accept! Butlers are an Irish chocolate makers based in Dublin who have been around for over 80 years.
The 75g bar is dark chocolate and contains an Irish Whiskey truffle center. It comes in 6 pretty substantial blocks which for me were definitely more than 1 bite each.
I have been keeping this chocolate in the fridge so the truffle center had set a bit but this is how I like this sort of bar. The filling was like a sort of thick gooey and boozy ganache. I was quite surprised by how strong the whiskey smell was and hoped that it didn't taste as alcoholic!
I need not have worried because the 58% cocoa solids chocolate was not at all over shadowed by the whiskey and I really enjoyed the truffle center which was made from milk chocolate and was silky smooth.
VerdictI can't tell you if it tastes like Jameson Irish Whiskey because it's not something I have ever tried, but as it actually does contain's it I am going to assume that it does. The levels of booze vs chocolate were just right for me and I will certainly look out for more chocolate by Butlers, particularly their Irish Cream Truffle bar!
