I kept seeing the advert for the new Caffè range from Fox's (the one with Vinnie the gangster panda) and I was really hoping to find the caramel waffles when I went shopping the other day. Sadly I haven't managed to track them down just yet but I did pick up a couple of the other products in the range.
Caffè Snaps and Caffè thins both come in hazelnut and caramel flavours which are popular coffee syrup flavours. This is no coincidence as you may have gathered that these biscuits are designed as a sweet accompaniment to a cup of coffee. I got the Snaps in caramel and the Thins in hazelnut.
The Caffè Snaps are little oval shaped biscuits which can easily be snapped in half, it looks a lot like a coffee bean! They come in a 145g foil packet and each biscuit contains 36 calories. They are described as "mild caramel flavour biscuits, perfect with a creamy coffee". Caffè Thins however are a more intense flavour and are designed to go with a more rich coffee. These come in 95g cardboard boxes with a foil inner wrapper and the half-moon shaped biscuits are 28 calories each.
Well I only drink my coffee strong and black and I have never been a dunker but for the purposes of the review I gave it a try. The caramel Caffè Snap was very sweet and the texture was similar to a digestive, despite my coffee not being at all mild, the caramel flavour still complimented it really well. I also enjoyed the satisfying snap! The Caffè Thin was a lot lighter in texture and had more of a crunch. The hazelnut flavour was indeed intense as the box promised!
Verdict I enjoyed both of these biscuits from Fox's and they both complimented my cup of coffee. The hazelnut Caffè Thin was my favourite of the 2 and Mr Review Addict shared my opinion. We both agreed that we preferred the stronger flavour and the lighter texture. I look forward to tracking down those waffles!
