It's been a while since I've had a McFlurry, probably not since I reviewed the Quality Street one back around Christmas time last year. I do like a McFlurry though, it's always good when you've been out for a meal and skipped dessert but then changed your mind on the way home! There are 2 special McFlurries out at the moment, Galaxy with Chocolate and this Galaxy with Caramel.
Of course it is your standard McDonalds soft dairy ice cream that comes in all McFlurries. It is then swirled with little round Galaxy chocolate pieces and a Galaxy Caramel sauce. The whole thing is a rather hefty 415 calories.
I love chocolate but when it comes to ice cream toppings, I do believe that you can have too much of the stuff. Not too much toppings in general you must understand, oh I want plenty of those, but if there is chocolate then I tend to think that a different flavor sauce compliments it better. This is why I chose the Galaxy with Caramel McFlurry over the chocolate one and I am glad I did as the toppings were great.
Galaxy chocolate is always a win in my eyes, it is smooth and creamy and these little round pieces melted fantastically in the mouth. I am not sure why it is that round chocolate melts better but it definitely does! The caramel sauce was thick and sticky as I hoped it would be and there was plenty of it.
Verdict
I made the point in my last McFlurry review that the secret to a good one is a good mix and seems that McDonalds in Bracknell are very good at this. I loved the Galaxy chocolate and caramel sauce combination and the fact that you get a lot of dessert for your money with a McFlurry is always a good thing!
