Our House of Spice Ground Spice Mixes
Our House of Spice is a Cambridge based Indian company run by sisters Nadia and Julia. They make frozen meals and spice packets and were kind enough to send me some of the spice packets to review. Their recipes are created with blends of spices handed down through generations. They do not use and MSG, artificial flavourings preservatives and all their products are gluten free.
I was sent mixes for Bombay Potatoes, Tarka Dhal and Raita yogurt dip. Each packet includes a recipe to make the dish and so I gave them all a go!

The Raita was the easiest to make, you just mix yogurt with the spice mix and then you can add coriander and/or cucumber to make a lovely cooling dip. There is enough spices in the packet to make a huge pot of dip from 500g of yogurt.

The Bombay Potatoes are made using new potatoes (although I cheated and used tinned potatoes), garlic, coriander and the spice mix. It was really simple to prepare and ready in around 15 minutes, although as I used the tinned potatoes it was much quicker. The flavours were delicious, not too spicy but packed with flavor.
Tarka Dhal is Mr Review Addicts absolute favorite Indian dish so I was really looking forward to making this. Once again it was really easy and was just onion, red split lentils, water, the spice mix and coriander. This was ready in around 20 minutes and smelt amazing. It has quite a kick to it but we both really enjoyed it.

VerdictI eat a lot of Indian food but I have never attempted to cook it myself. I was surprised at how simple it was and the Our House of Spice spice packets definitely helped with their easy recipes and lovely flavours. The packets are available to buy online from the Our House of Spice shop and cost between £2.50 and £2.80 each (serves 4). You can also purchase whole dinner kits with everything you need for a curry night!REVIEW! Our House of Spice Ground Spice MixesREVIEW! Our House of Spice Ground Spice MixesREVIEW!
