REVIEW! RJ's Raspberry Bullets

I purchased these RJ's Raspberry Bullets from Long Acre's garden center in Bagshot who have a great food hall with lots of products from all over the world. These sweets are raspberry liquorice coated in milk chocolate which I thought sounded like an interesting combination. RJ's liquorice bullets come in raspberry and black liquorice, the latter I cannot stand but any other flavor I love and I don't think I have ever tried it combined with chocolate.
RJ's are a New Zealand based company and they also spell liquorice with as Licorice, I hadn't realised that there were 2 spellings of it!

The "bullets" are roughly the size of a piece of chewing gum but thicker and rounder. I haven't seen many bullets in my time but I imagine they are the same size hence the name. 16 pieces are roughly 165 calories.
The chocolate layer is quite thick and it is Belgian chocolate and tastes pretty good quality. Here is a rather poor close up picture but you can see that the raspberry liquorice is not nearly as pink as the picture on the packet. The raspberry flavor is quite strong and I was surprised at how tasty it was with the chocolate. The mix of textures feels quite strange, with smooth chocolate against chewy liquorice, but actually it works quite well.

Verdict I will be honest and say that I did not have high hopes for these RJ's Raspberry Bullets, I just bought them out of curiosity more than anything, but actually they were quite nice and I enjoyed the raspberry and chocolate combination. I would love to see an apple version of these!
