I picked up this tub of Peanut and Salted Caramel ice cream in Sainsbury's the other night. It cost £2.50 for a 500ml tub but there is also and offer on where you can buy 2 for £4.00. A 5th of the pot contains 200 calories and it is suitable for vegetarians.
I love that we are seeing more and more peanut butter products in the UK and even though the name of this product doesn't give it away, there is a gorgeous peanut butter sauce swirled throughout the caramel flavoured dairy ice cream. It also contains caramelised peanut pieces and chocolate coated salted peanuts.
Sainsbury's didn't hold back when packing this ice cream full of goodies, there were lots of the peanut pieces and the chocolate coated salted peanuts which gave it a nice crunch. The peanut butter sauce was also plentiful and has a lovely smooth and thick texture but not as thick as actual peanut butter, it was more like a peanut butter caramel sauce. The sweet ice cream with the salty extras made a great match!
Verdict
Both Mr Review Addict and I loved Sainsbury's Peanut and Salted Caramel ice cream and this definitely makes up for the loss of their Lemon Meringue Pie Ice Cream. These tubs from Sainsbury's easily give Ben and Jerry's a run for their money and they are much better value too!
