I recently reviewed some crisps from Darling Spuds and when they sent me those to try, they also sent me some samples from their other brand: Salty Dog. I was sent 3 different flavours: Strong Cheddar and Onion, Ham and Wholegrain mustard, and Flame Grilled Steak. They also have Sea Salt, Sea Salt and Malt Vinegar, Sweet Chilli, and Jalapeno and Coriander flavours in their range and have recently introduced nuts and gourmet popcorn.
Salty Dog crisps come in 40g bags and are around 192 calories per bag.
The Strong Cheddar and Onion flavor certainly lived up to it's name, the flavor was intense and I really enjoyed it. The Ham and Wholegrain Mustard flavor was also strong and the ham flavor really came through with the mustard following. The Flame Grilled flavor was not as strong as the others but still tasty nonetheless!
All of the crisps had a great crunch to them that you can only get with hand cooked crisps and like the Darling Spuds crisps that I reviewed, they were not greasy like you get with some other brands.
Verdict
I enjoyed all of the flavours sent to me but the Strong Cheddar and Onion flavor was my favorite. I loved the strength of the flavours and will be looking out for the Sea Salt and Malt Vinegar flavor as I would love to see how they compare with the Darling Spuds Sea Salt and Italian Balsamic Vinegar
