This evening I am reviewing another product from the new Tesco Healthy Living Range which I purchased using vouchers sent to me by their PR team. This Vegetable Biriyani was £2.75 and it contains 310 calories. It is 8 Weight Watchers ProPoints for anyone following the plan (all of this range appears to have the ProPoints on the back) and it also contains 2 of your 5 a day.
It looked fantastic with all the vibrant colours of the rice and vegetables and was super easy to cook at approximately 4 minutes in the microwave. The pilau rice comes with cauliflower, red onion, a bit of coriander and a tomato sauce.
The Biriyani smelt delicious, I absolutely love Indian spices and I especially love cauliflower with Indian spices! It was mild in heat so if you aren't a fan of real spicy food but enjoy Indian flavours then it is ideal. It was all cooked perfectly, the rice was sufficiently moist and the cauliflower was tender. Rice in general can be quite dry but with the tomato sauce it was just right.
Verdict
In the past I have moaned about ready meals but I have to say that Tesco has come up with some fantastic ones recently. The Biriyani is definitely one of my favourites and for 310 calories I was surprised at how filling it was!
