Review: The Handprint Carving Co
A few weeks ago, I received an e-mail offering me the chance to try out a baby product.
As a blogger with young children, this is nothing unusual - infact I get many of these emails every week and, due to time constraints, I usually have to pass on the offer with regret - but this time, the e-mail caught my interest.
The product in question was something I hadn't seen before, and something that sounded too special to pass on.
The company in question was The Handprint Carving Co, who offer the opportunity to have your babies hand or footprints carved into beautiful solid oak keepsakes to treasure for a lifetime.
I absolutely love personalised gifts where babies are concerned, and anything that offers me the chance to capture a part of my childrens baby years to keep forever is so very exciting to me so I had to try it out for myself to see what they could do.
I was sent a kit in the post to take Sailor's footprint - I worried a little when I read that it involved baking but I needn't have as the instructions were so clear and simple to follow, and the whole process was so very easy.
You simply knead the clay provided, roll it out so that it's just larger than your childs hand or foot and then take the print by gently pressing their hand or foot into the clay (you can do this over as many times as you need to until you get a print you're happy with, but we were happy with our first try...it really was very simple!) - you then set it by baking it  for 15 minutes, and return it to The Handprint Carving Co in the pre-paid envelope provided.
A week later, when we returned home from our holiday, the keepsake was waiting for us.
I expected to be impressed having seen the images of the keepsakes online, but I was truly blown away by how detailed and beautiful it truly was.

The Handprint Carving Co allow you to choose what you wish to have engraved into the frame to accompany the print and in what font - we chose to have Sailor's name and the age he was when the print was taken.
The quality of the oak print is quite simply exquisite, and the detail in the raised footprint is absolutely stunning - to have an item like this to treasure forever as a reminder of these days when Sailor was so small is absolutely priceless - I only wish I had known of this when Tyne and Noah were younger, as to have one for each of them would have been wonderful.
My plan is to hang this print on the wall beneath a print of Sailor at 12 weeks old, but really no matter where you hang this keepsake (or even if you just kept it in its beautiful presentation box to look back on) it will look fantastic and will always make you smile.
These keepsakes are a stunning investment to remember your child as a baby, and a wonderful idea for a gift for a parent (a first Fathers Day present perhaps?) or even for grandparents or other family members.
