Well I am not sure what the delay has been in Bracknell but I have only just managed to get hold of the new Wonka bars, well 2 out 3 anyway. This Millionaire's Shortbread bar contains 200 calories and is made from 4 square sections. I think that the general consensus amongst other bloggers is that it's not a particularly exciting bar and I have to stay that it certainly didn't look very exciting.
I guess we have been spoilt with lots of other exciting releases this year from the likes of Cadbury and even Tesco's brand ChokaBlok.
Nestle's press release describes the new Wonka bars as "bringing the spirit of Willy Wonka to life with the launch of the deliciously imaginative Wonka Chocolate brand". As the name suggests, Millionaire's Shortbread is caramel and shortbread pieces covered in milk chocolate and personally I don't think that Willy would have been too impressed, it's far too tame!
The chocolate is not bad, standard Nestle stuff and I have to admit I did actually quite like the filling. It was more like a creamy caramel filling like in the Cadbury Nutty Caramel bar, only not as good. The biscuit added a nice crunch but the flavor didn't really come through and the whole thing is very, very sweet and almost a little sickly.
Verdict It's definitely not the exciting bar that I had hoped for from a brand who is apparently inspired by Willy Wonka. I thought that it tasted nice but there are too many better bars to make me go and buy this one again. If I described it in one word: "meh" would probably sum it up.
