Roald Dahl Comes To McDonalds Happy Meals
There are certain little pleasures of childhood that really stick in my memory.
The smell of juicy fruit wrappers, the sticky fingers when you dropped your Double Dip Swizzel Stick into the sherbert and had to fish it back out, the satisfaction of completing your Panini world cup sticker book...and the excitement you felt at opening up your happy meal box to see what toy was inside!
Now that I'm a parent myself, I have to admit...I have a love/hate relationship with those happy meal toys! My kids have all the same excitement about them that I had but they're a bit less appealing when you're the adult and you constantly find them in the back of the car!! If I had a pound for every Despicable Me toy in the back of that car....
So when I heard that McDonald's were putting Roald Dahl books into happy meals for a limited period...I was honestly delighted! Happy Meal toys I can really embrace and get on board with!
As you may know if you read this blog regularly, I am a HUGE fan of Roald Dahl and have been since childhood...a few weeks ago myself and the boys visited the Roald Dahl museum in Buckinghamshire and went to find his grave afterwards too so I could pay my respects to the man who sparked my interest in writing and got me through a difficult childhood of bullying with his fantastical tales and unusual characters.
Ever since our visit, I've been keen to introduce his books to my children but at their current ages I worried they may be a bit too advanced...so when the Happy Meal collection arrived, I was thrilled!
