Rohan’s Got a New Apartment! And a Girlfriend…?

Posted on the 08 August 2013 by Rohan @rohanforsale

new house 13Hey guys! It’s been some month but things are finally starting to settle down. Moving is hard work and the place we moved into certainly needed some work. I think this calls for a list:

  • The oven had to be replaced
  • The extractor fan had to be replaced
  • The curtain rod in the living room had to be replaced
  • Curtains had to be installed in the bedrooms
  • The shower curtain had to be replaced
  • The toilet seat had to be replaced
  • We had to get plugs for the bath and sinks
  • We replaced the light shades
  • We replaced the welcome mats
  • We scrubbed the place from top to bottom
  • We put in rugs

And so on, I won’t bore you with the rest. In a month or so I’d like to paint the place, but for now it looks a little something like this:

Ta Da!

We live in a 250 year old Georgian building in my favorite part of Dublin! In fact when I was 2 years old my folks and I lived on the other side of the street, almost directly opposite the new place! We traveled from Ireland to Australia, through France, the Netherlands, Germany and back to Ireland to the exact same spot.

Not my building, but similar

Not only this but when my dad moved into the place across the street he was 26 and turning 27 in two months. Now I’ve moved into this place I’m 26 and turning 27 in two months! Weird…

Anyway you might be wondering who I am talking about when I refer to “us” and “we”. Well I’m living with two people; my brother Alex with whom I play music with and who is my co-author for the sci fi series Gyaros!

It's Alex!

The other person is Anna, my partner…DUN DUN DUUUUUUN!

This will no doubt come as a shock to many of you. I’ve never discussed my relationship status on the blog so people have probably come up with their own assumptions as to whether I was single, dating or with someone. When I first started the blog I had no intention of it becoming a personal blog, more just general health and wellbeing. However as time passed I’ve shared more and more about myself and so I thought it was time to introduce Anna.

So if you have any questions, now is the time to ask :)

I’ve mentioned that I’m now living in my favorite part of Dublin, but what exactly makes it the best spot? Well without getting too specific (can’t be too careful!!) it’s a 2 minute walk to the Grand canal which has inspired many of Ireland’s greatest poets and painters, a 5 minute walk to one of the city’s loveliest parks and a 10 minute walk to the city center with all it’s cafes, shops, restaurants, the national gallery, theaters and more!

Then on the other side you have the sea which is a 30 minute walk, or a 10 minute bus/car ride. I could recreate Stephen Dedalus’ Sandy Mount Strand stroll every day if I wished, or I could pop in for coffee where James Joyce met his darling Nora.

And so things have finally settled down. So what’s next? Well next week Alex and I will begin working full time on Gyaros Book Two: Fortune Favors The Brave. As well as that my blog will be back to it’s normal schedule with posts on Monday and Thursday and the Post of the Week on Friday.

Thankfully I had my guest posts to keep my blog going through July.
