I don't know about you, but researching and choosing baby products is exhausting. Since this is my first child, I have been over paranoid about everything I am placing on my registry.

SafeToSleep is so smart, that it can even determine the quality of your baby's sleep. It also knows when your baby is sleeping or awake. I was able to get the chance to chat with one of the founders of the company and ask all of my questions about the monitor. This monitor hooks up to your smartphone or tablet through Bluetooth. It monitors your baby on a second by second basis while the baby is sleeping on the mat, but also tracks the info over a 30 day period. This allows parents to record and view their baby's sleep wellness and patterns over months of time.
While other monitors will set off an alarm if your baby stops "moving", SafeToSleep knows when your baby's breath is even slowing down, alerting you BEFORE your baby stops breathing. This would ideally give you time to get to your baby in an emergency before they would be lying there without oxygen. The big difference in this technology is that it monitors your baby's BREATHS and movement, not just movement.
SafeToSleep was kind enough to let me and Ryan try out the baby monitor for ourselves. When it arrived, I was so impressed with the sleek packaging. It was similar to getting a Mac product, in that it was more of an "experience" that just ripping open an ugly cardboard box. The quality of the mat was also great, definitely not cheap or flimsy feeling. I love that it is waterproof and made from anti-microbial fabric, for easy cleaning. Once you open the box, it is extremely easy to set up. The company's tagline for "5 minutes from box to bassinet" was accurate. I also want to point out that there are no cables or cords attached to the mat that your baby could get tangled in. It is completely run wirelessly and off battery. The user guide is very thorough and I had no questions that were left unanswered. They also have a great FAQ section on their site that can be found here. Lastly, connecting the mat to our iPhones and iPad was so easy. You just download the app from the App Store. The app is very impressive and has a ton of cool and useful features.Check out more from Tamara:
