There is always hustle and bustle at Sagar Ratna Restaurant, The Ashok, Chanakyapuri. It is having a large walk-in on a regular basis. Mostly there is a rush at lunch and dinner time at Sagar Ratna. It is within the premise of The Ashoka Hotel at Chanakyapuri, New Delhi. People love the food here and enjoy spending time here. To visit here, it is better to park your car at the backside of the hotel. While if you come via the main lobby of the hotel, it will slightly distant. Though whichever side you take, you are within the hotel. It is pure South Indian food restaurant.

Good ambiance and tasty south Indian food are the high points. Service is quick. Cleanliness and hygiene is an issue as the chutney sets you get are in open containers. As a matter of fact, the serving staff pick them from a table, refill and serve at another table. You never know if someone has used the same spoon again and again. I have enjoyed lunch and dinner multiple times here. Although they do serve some north Indian food items, but Sagar Ratna is famous for South Indian food only.

Dosas, Uttapams, Puri Sabzi, coffee are fine in taste and preparation. It is a pure veg restaurant and limited to south Indian dishes only. Although all Uttapams are tasty, my favorite is Mix Uthappam. On the other hand, in Dosas I prefer Rava Masala Onion Dosa. The chutneys are tasty irrespective of their sanctity of cleanliness under clouds. Poori Subzi is another item that I never miss whenever I visit here.

Prices are high and have gone further high heavily over a period of time. Otherwise, it was quite economical when it started initially. Probably it is the hotel impact that has been the reason of so high prices now. Whatever is the case, the place is quite popular and almost full all the time.
