Sailor at 3 Months

Dear Sailor, Sailor at 3 Months
I hate writing the 3 month update post - I don't know what it is exactly about a baby turning 3 months old but for some reason it always makes me feel a bit sad because, as lovely as it is that you're healthy and growing and of course we're so happy that you are!, at the same time it's always a bit bittersweet to leave the newborn days behind...I know you're only really a newborn for the first few weeks, but to me a baby still feels and seems like a newborn for longer than that - until about 3 months old.
And that's why, when I find myself sitting here writing the 3 month update, I always have that same feeling of shock and disbelief at how fast these last 12 weeks have flown past and how quickly that newborn haze was over.
I felt that way writing your brothers 3 month updates, and I feel it now with you - infact I feel it more with you because the time seems to have somehow gone even faster. I swear it moves faster with each baby you have!
If only pregnancy weeks flew past as fast as newborn weeks seem to do - the last 12 weeks of any pregnancy feel like they last for an eternity!
Anyway...enough of my rambling...let's talk about you!

Sleeping & Feeding
We had a week or so where it seemed that you had followed in your brother Noah's footsteps and started sleeping through the night from an early age - Noah slept through from 10 weeks and never looked back, and at 9 weeks you started to sleep for 7 hour stretches from 11pm until around 6 am which we were very happy with!
But unfortunately it didn't last - well, I say unfortunately - I'll be totally honest, I'm still not really giving you chance to "sleep through" because I'm still refusing to put you up to bed of an evening - instead you sleep on the sofa or in your crib downstairs until your Dad and I go to bed around 1 am.
You're usually asleep from about 9pm downstairs, but of course when we move you up to bed it disturbs you and you need to be fed again before you'll go back to sleep.
I know I shouldn't be doing this and I should just be putting you up to bed at a sensible time, but I need my Sailor snuggles and it's so hard to get to spend any real time just cuddling you during the day because your brothers are very time-demanding - so the evening is our time, even if you spend most of it asleep!
I'll try to stop it soon though and let you go to bed earlier...I promise! Meanwhile though you're doing well enough anyway, apart from that one feed when we move you to take you up to bed you don't wake again from 9pm until around 6 or 6.30 am - so not too bad at all!
You are feeding well these days and have finally started to put on some proper weight that we can actually see - your arms and thighs are really chunking out now!

How Big Are You?
Despite the chunky arms and thighs, you don't seem to be getting any longer or taking up any more room in your clothes - you're still wearing a newborn onesie this evening and about 75% of your 0-3 month clothing is still way too long and loose on you! To the point that it's unwearable because it just hangs off you.
I hope you grow into it soon as I have a whole drawer of it waiting for you, and I'm worried it'll be the wrong season by the time you grow into it!

Your Looks
Your eyes are still blue and I predict they'll be staying that way. You have the longest, curliest eyelashes I've ever seen on a baby!
Your hair looks a different color in every light - I think it's still quite dark but in certain lights it looks fair.
You still have plenty of spiky hair, and haven't lost any at all from what I can tell!

Your Personality
You are now full of smiles, and they are just the cutest thing ever!
You always smile away whenever anyone talks to you, and especially when anybody laughs! You seem to be trying to laugh yourself, and you do a lot of cooing noises and gurgles - it almost sounds like you're singing! You do this in response to anybody talking to you, which is very sweet!
You have also started trying to blow raspberries in the last few days.
You're such a sweet little bubba, and although I can't believe you're 3 months old already I'm so excited to see how much you grow and change over the coming months.
We love you lots, our little Sailor Moon. Lots Of Love, Sailor at 3 Months
