Even on Saturday evenings I take gardens and parks over bars and pubs. You would think that the city style of living is not my thing, not to mention the New York style of living.
Where I live, however, you might stumble upon an open garden (with apples and tomatoes!) while enjoying an evening walk, and watch the sun set in Prospect Park. Brooklyn has really the best of both worlds.
