Saturday is Here to Stay!

Oh, don't you wish that was true? I know I do!
All my friends at CNU are posting about how excited they are for spring break and all I can think is, "Spring break? What's that?"
I told one of my coworkers yesterday that I think I would rather have to work on Federal Holidays (which we didn't get off at CNU) and get spring break. Maybe that'll adjust. But I don't know...the idea of only having two weeks off every year is just...daunting. It makes me tired just thinking about it.
If I never get married (which I seriously hope I do, but still), then I will conceivably be working until I'm 65ish. That means I'll be working for another 42 years. That's a long time! And if I only get two weeks of vacation every year during those two years that means I'll have only 84 weeks of vacation. Which is less than two years. It's actually approximatley 21 months. So basically, I'd spend another 40 years and three months working. And that just sounds exhausting. No thank youuuu.
But anyway.
Today is Saturday, obviously. Currently I am in Newport News, gallavanting around with my friends that I have missed oh so very much. I realized while talking to a friend yesterday that I haven't been to Newport News in 3 1/2 months. That might not seem like a long time to you, but consider the fact that (other than summer break), that is the longest I've gone without being at CNU since August 2008. Last semester I was there five times. In one semester. Once I was even there two weekends in a row!
So I am super duper excited to spend time with my wonderful fellow Captains this weekend.
In other news, Cary from Confessions of a Cruciverbalist tagged me in the 11 Question thing that's been going around. This is actually the third time I've been tagged in it, which makes me feel like I'm turning into a (semi) popular blogger? Maybe? Hey, a girl can dream, right?
Anyway. You're basically supposed to post 11 facts about yourself, answer the 11 questions the other person asked, tag 11 people, and then ask 11 questions for those 11 people you tagged.
Since this is my third tagging, similar to my second tagging, I'm not going to do 11 facts or tag 11 people and ask them 11 questions. So, without further ado, here are Cary's questions:

What were/are your favorite and least favorite courses in college? Why? Well, my least favorite courses were probably Ancient World Literature, Math 115 and Biology 108. Bio and math are subjects I don't particularly enjoy to begin with, and then I had incompetent teachers who went on rants about dumb stuff that had very little to do with what we were supposed to be learning. And that just annoyed me. A lot. As for Ancient World Lit...the subject could've been interesting. But my professor (who I call the Devil Woman) made me want to punch babies. I was soooo glad when that class ended. As for favorite courses. Oh goodness. If I keep it down to three, like with least favorite then I would have to go with Acting I, Stage Combat, and Narrative Journalism. I took narrative my junior year and even though it was a buttload of work, I really enjoyed it a lot. I had never done narrative journalism before, so it was really neat to learn a whole new style of writing. Acting I was one of the first classes I took and I just learned sooo much. My professor was brilliant and really helped me tons. Plus, I loved pretty much all of my classmates. Many of them are still wonderful friends until this day. As for stage combat, I mean...come on...it's fake fighting. For class. I took two stage combat classes, one in unarmed and the other in armed (where I learned single sword and knife fighting), and I really enjoyed all of it. Well, except knife fighting. I hated knife fighting. But sword and unarmed were wayyy fun. I got some pretty cool battle wounds from those classes. And I'm not certified by the Society of American Fight Directors (SAFD) in unarmed, single sword, and knife fighting. :)
If you could have any super power, what would it be and why? Probs invisibility. Or...no. I don't know if this really counts as a super power, but I'd want to be an animagus so I could pull the whole Rita Skeeter thing and legit be a fly on the wall. But if you're not counting that, then invisibility could work. Sometimes there's just conversations I really wish I could hear.
If money wasn't a deciding factor, where would your dream vacation be? A super duper crazy long European cruise/tour. I've always wanted to go on a cruise and there are tons of places in Europe that I haven't been to or saw when I was little that I'd love to see again.
What if your favorite book? "Redeeming Love" by Francine Rivers. I've read it nine times and used it for my senior seminar paper on Biblical masculinity.
If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would it be? Why? Hmm...
What three bands would you love to see at one concert? (They don't have to be actively performing, still together, etc.) Umm...this would never happen because there is no semblance of order in their genres, but three of my favorites are Rascal Flatts, Shane & Shane, and Kelly Clarkson. Yea...they're all from completely different genres. Lovely.
Do you have any quirky habits? Well, let us see. I touch my finger to my nose when I'm thinking about/trying to remember something. This often makes people think I'm playing the nose game when I'm not. I'm really OCD so I organize stuff LIKE WHOA which freaks a lot of people out. When I'm bored and don't have anything to do with my hands, I play with my earring backs. I think that's all. I'm sure there's others. But that's all I can come up with right now.
Do you have any phobias? I'm afraid of falling. Even just from like a couple of feet up. It freaks me out like nobody's business. I have the general, "OHMYGOSHITSASPIDER" fear of bugs and such, but I don't have a legitimate phobia of them. The one thing, though, that really like for serious freaks me out is licking. Yes. I said licking. Or rather, the fear of being licked. I google it and apparently there's no clinical term for that. But seriously...it terrifies me. In fact, when I was taking stage combat (see above), my partner and I were doing the rape scene from A Streetcar Named Desire for our knife scene. We ran through the whole scene in class one time and our professor was like, "Sarah, you are not uncomfortable enough. You are about to get raped and murdered." So he had us do it up to this one point where we were in this thing called a corps a corps, where our knives/arms were sort of interlocked and we were right next to each other. Then all of sudden he told my partner to lick me. I flipped out. He kept egging him on, "Lick her! Lick her!" And everyone in class wanted him to do it. And I was leaning as far away from him as I possibly could. He never actually licked me because apparently I got uncomfortable enough with just the thought of him licking me. So...yea.
Do you prefer being with a large or small group of friends? It depends on the situation and the mood I'm in. I love people and I love being around people. I'm totally comfortable in both large groups and small groups, it really just depends on my mood.
Would you rather teach young children or college students? Young children. For sure. They're the cutest things ever and they say some of the most hilarious stuff ever. I nannied for a three- and a five-year-old a few years back and I got sooo many great quotes.
If you could volunteer for any charitable organization, what would it be and why? Hmm...that is a difficult one. I'd probably have to go with To Write Love On Her Arms. I don't know if that technically counts are a charitable organization, but it is a non-profit that is dedicated to helping people who desperately need it. I have many friends, two very close ones in particular, who have struggled with the pain and desperation that comes from feeling worthless. They felt this way to the point that they injured their bodies and/or attempted to end their life. And these two friends are wonderful, beautiful, incredible women from whom I have learned so much and without whom my life would be very different. And if I can help others realize just how beautiful and wonderful and incredible and valuable they are, if I can write love on their arms by any means, then I will do so.
