Saving Moneywithout Compromising on Style!
Posted on the 22 January 2015 by Sparklesandstretchmarks @raine_fairySince moving in to our new home, one thing has put a real dampener on what has otherwise been a perfect experience.
As I've said before, we LOVE our new home and are so happy with the area and everything about the house itself....but of course nothing is ever perfect and we've found the one flaw to be the cost of electricity!
As many landlords do, ours chooses to run the house with a key meter - which we're fine with as at least it means no big bill looming over us every month or quarter - but the cost has been way over anything we've experienced in the past!
We're having to pay £10 PER DAY for electricity at the moment which we're finding to be a real struggle to keep up with.
And it seems we're not the only ones with this problem - a recent survey found that the top three savings British households think would benefit their expenditure in 2015 are:
Lower food bills (46%) Lower heating bills (41%) Lower electricity bills (29%)
As our house is run solely on electricity, we do think that the heating is a major factor - one thing we have noticed is that there are huge drafts coming from the windows in the kitchen and the dining room!
According to the survey, which was carried on behalf of energy saving blinds Duette® as part of a new initiative to encourage UK households to take control of their bills and stop throwing money out of the window (quite literally!), a staggering 50% of household heat is lost through windows.
So what can be done about this problem?
Duette® have a range of blinds for the home that save energy, proven to reduce heat loss by up to 46% when fitted in a domestic window.
These energy saving blinds can slash annual heating costs by up to 25%.
Duette® blinds fitted cost from around £150 - which is roughly the same amount you could save on your heating bill within the first year! So the figures really do speak for themselves!
Of course one major factor when it comes to choosing energy saving items for the home such as this is the aesthetics...we all want to save money where we can but nobody wants to compromise their decor and let's face it...many energy saving products can be quite unsightly!
Fortunately, that's not the case here....take a look at some of the stunning options available!
