A good number of the award winners were fairly predictable. Daniel Day-Lewis got his well-deserved Golden Globe for “Lincoln.” Anne Hathaway won “Best Supporting Actress in a Film.”
But a surprise victory for “Argo” throws a major wrench in the Oscar predictions for those of us who thinks there’s any sort of rhyme or reason for how these awards are distributed.
Yes, we could chalk it up as a fluke. After all, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association is not the Academy. Occasionally, they even like to spit in the Academy’s prestigious face.
Also, the odds of a film which doesn’t even have a “Best Director” nomination winning the grand prize…not that great.
However, that hasn’t stopped that little seed of doubt from planting itself right in the middle of all of our Oscar predictions. As of last night, it’s anyone’s game…or at least it could go one of three ways…
