See Ya Later Clutter!

Last night I lost my shit a little. The ‘stuff’, and there’s a fair bit of it, that I have and hold onto is becoming overwhelming and I’m feeling the urge to purge. That’s it!! I declare that I’m going to be a tosser!

You’ve seen me through the chuck out 50 useless things challenge, and I’ve held the garage sale and yet I’m still finding myself kneedeep in ‘things’. The MOTH is very reluctant to be rid of useless crap and so I guess it’s up to me. Just like that little tank engine climbing the hill: I think I can, I think I can …..

Can’t I?

My mind is always racing with far too many ideas and plans and schemes and it’s no wonder that finding clarity is difficult when there is so much physical litter in my life too. My house mostly looks tidy (enough) and I’m surely not comparing myself to any of those poor souls publicly outed on Hoarders BUT there is too much stuff for me, it’s bugging me. It’s annoyed me for ages however it’s now irritating me enough to do something about it. Drastically.

The wee little problem that I have with these sorts of missions is my ‘all or nothing’ nature. When I make a decision like this to act, I want it done and dusted immediately, then and there finished, accomplished, ticked off, yes m’am. It’s a bit of a stumbling block but can no longer be an excuse and I’m going to force myself to do this slowly and thoroughly. Easy does it and with a calm, more mindful approach I hope that the results will be long lasting. I’m sure you understand that this is not the first time I’ve had the decluttering bug, you get it too, don’t you?

In deciding what remains and what goes bye-bye I’m not only going to consider when I used it last, or when it possibly may be used next, I’m actually going to consider if it adds value to my life. Is my life enriched by hanging onto it? Yes, then it’s a keeper. No? See ya later, away it goes. There’s no longer any room in my heart, my headspace or on my shelves for things that do not add meaning and value to my life.

Well, there you have it, it’s out there and that’s my plan … I’ll keep you posted!

How do you set about having a clean out? Do you have things that are kept because it’s always been too hard to let them go?
