SemperFi Momma Adopts Marines and You Can Too
My very cool online friend and fellow Marine wife, Laura Crawford over at Semper Fi Momma, has started a new initiative to support Marines, and eventually members in every branch, who don’t get much mail or packages while deployed. Her program is a very personal approach to supporting our guys. The commitment required to participate is minimal but the benefits and rewards are great for both the sender and the tough guys and ladies deployed in defense of our freedom.
Primarily focused on sending letters of support, encouragement, and genuine caring, participants can occasionally send care packages too. Despite the advances of modern communication technologies, nothing replaces a good old-fashioned letter. It’s something about the idea of a person taking the time to handwrite a letter implies true caring and a personal touch that email and instant messaging can’t deliver.
Laura’s program is different from the many others already available in that this is truly a grass roots effort. She is working directly with unit commands and family readiness officers to ensure that the forward-deployed Marines who need support receive it.
The Adopt a Marine program requires all participants to adhere to strict operational security (OPSEC) guidelines, which will be provided to you after you contact Laura. Head over to SemperFiMomma’s blog to read more about it and for the details about getting involved with Adopt a Marine.
