…Serve It Up

Happy Sunday!

We can’t think of a better way to wrap up this 4th of July weekend than to turn our eyes to the sorely neglected (by this blog at any rate) Wimbledon.

We admit, the World Cup has been receiving the bulk of our international athletic competition attention and affection, but it’s once every four years (although, the women’s is next year…in Canada). You get our undivided attention all of the years in between, Wimbledon.

Today, in fact, as this post is being composed, the men’s Wimbledon Final between Federer and Djokovic is taking place.  While we’re a little disappointed that our favorite, Andy Murray didn’t make it to the finals, it’s still an exciting match.

It may not have yellow or red cards, corner kicks, or penalty shootouts, but it’s rackets, interesting fashion choices, and single net more than make up for this loss.  If you don’t really think about it, soccer and tennis have a lot in common.  There’s a single ball which goes back and forth across the court (it’s kind of like a field).  There’s also a net, although it’s a bad thing if you hit the ball into it.  Okay, so maybe they have nothing in common.

But aren’t you kind of a little burnt out on soccer at this point?  I mean the World Cup has been going on for weeks, and we still have a week to go.

So, why not give yourself a bit of a break and treat yourself to another favorite global past time.
