Sexist Jeans

I kid you not. Now, I do believe that feminism is a big deal, and support it as much as the next person. That being said, I'm really starting to think that some women are taking it all a bit too seriously. I think we've all heard enough of the 'make me a sandwich' and 'belongs in a kitchen' jokes to be bored of them now but I found this actually quite original is the world of male humor.(via @Emmabarnett)Image of the Chinos made by MadhouseI found it funny because to me, it's not just being sexist and all "oh - it's the woman's job". The whole tone to me was that the little list of instructions was obviously far too much effort for a man to do, therefore the woman would have to do it. I feel it's poking fun at both sexes in a way. It's also a really really subtle insert to the garment. It's on the care label, I mean c'mon. It's not like it's part of the advertising campaign and all: "Buy these awesome jeans then get your woman to wash them whilst you eat steak."The journalist who found this label however completely disagrees with me, considering the label to be encouraging a "Neanderthal" mentality towards women. There's lots more on that at The TelegraphMale dominance in society did used to be a massive deal, but I think women have come on leaps and bounds since a few decades ago when a label like that would have been a true reflection of current opinions and therefore would have been a definite issue. By now I'd like to think that jokes like this can be considered tongue in cheek and a vague reference to a diminished sexist way of thinking. Amiwrong? Am I dismissing something serious as 'male banter'?
