The 2014 Blue Mustangs
We made it! Yesterday was the last game of the soccer season. There’ll be no more rushing out of work to get to Friday practices and no more Saturday games. It was quite an experience though for those kids, and I just need to recap and show you all what youth soccer is all about.
First and foremost, it’s about friendship. Team sports gets kids to bond. The boys on this team who go to the same school are best buddies. I love seeing how they’ve come together.
It’s about skill building. My son has no fear. He’ll go after the ball with no trouble. It wasn’t until this last game though that he actually scored a goal.
I didn’t catch his big goal, but here’s the play just before. He’s #1.
It’s about coming together as a team. I love that soccer teaches kids to work together!
It’s about being a good sportsman and congratulating the other team for a good game.
And finally, it’s about feeling the pride of a job well done and knowing that you tried your very best.
Yep, soccer is over for now, but these kids are all shining stars and should feel so good about what they accomplished this season. My song of the day today is for them…”Shining Star” by Earth, Wind and Fire. CLICK HERE to hear it and congratulations, Blue Mustangs, on a job well done!
