Simple Ways to Decorate Your Outdoor Living Space
Most of us take pride in the interior aspect of our homes, investing hours in rearranging, remodelling and decorating to create a relaxing environment that’s exiting to come home to. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said about our yards. With so much time spent on the interior, we allow our gardens to turn into wild jungles consisting of two $10 plastic chairs and a makeshift moving box table. Ok… Maybe it isn’t to this extreme, but our gardens are certainly unwelcoming. Turning your garden into an oasis doesn’t need to break the bank. Here are some simple and cheap ways to decorate your space.

Create Instant Ambiance with Lights

Unless you want to trip and spill your dinner, installing series of lights is a wise investment. This may seem a bit over the top, but lighting can really make or break an outdoor space. If you’ve gone for fluorescents, you’re going to feel like you’re constantly under interrogation, and if you’ve placed candles sparingly around the garden, the chances of face planting the ground are highly likely. There’s a plethora of garden lightening to choose from that doesn’t cost an arm and leg including fairy lights and lanterns to create a magical feel, or garden spot lights to foster a cool pattern on your wall.

Keep Warm with a Fire Pit

I’m not sure if you are aware, but fires are sooo hot right now… In a keeping you warm kind of way. Duh. Dad jokes aside, a fire pit is the perfect idea to creating an attractive centrepiece in your main relaxing area. You can melt marshmallows with the kids on the fire, create a homely atmosphere for night-time entertaining, or you can unwind after work with a glass of wine while watching the flames flicker. These days, you can either buy a fire pit from Barbeques Galore, or build your own stone wall circle in the earth with an assortment of bricks.

Build a Welcoming Arbour or Trellis

Every home has a number of doorways, so why not create one for your outdoor room? Whether you feature it in the entrance to your front yard or as an architectural feature piece, an arbour or trellis will serves as a welcoming addition to your space. Add a splash of color with some climbing plants and fairy lights.

Just Add Art

When a statue is outside of your budget range, hang some artwork on your fence to add a pop of color. Choose a calming piece on canvas to create a tranquil feeling, or opt for something bright and bold for a bit of visual eye candy.

Large Potted Palms = Instant Privacy

If you have an open front patio or porch and want to create a sense of privacy, line the edges with a row of potted palms, tall grasses and hanging baskets. Coupled with a few hanging lanterns, you’ll notice that your front porch will immediately transform into an intimate and secluded setting. Do you have any outdoor decorating tips?
