Although I’ve dropped out of the bloggy world for a while, I want to let you know I still think of the stories you share. A while ago Lazy Hippie Mama wrote ‘Profound Life Lessons I’ve Learned from WordPress,’ and described the many problems in life (and WordPress) that cannot be easily solved. Spell check that refuses to recognize ‘schlep’ or ‘speller’, profound philosophical differences between people, global warming, a quest for world peace…. you get the picture.
Skip it. And Move on. Focus on the next step, what do we have in common, what can we solve now. Focus on the big picture. Who cares if WordPress does not acknowledge ‘schlep’ or ‘speller,’ I know what you’re talking about. Who knows, perhaps world peace could happen if only we could skip it and move on, and not get bogged down by petty details and keep our focus on the big picture.
Skip it and Move on has been my mantra for these past few months as I attempt to attain superhuman levels of performance. For a Type-A supermama like myself, this takes some getting used to. Details are important, but so is the big picture. It’s all about balance.
Yes, I’m still working full time. Yes, Hubby is still SAHDad. Yes, we are still buried under a mountain of laundry. Yes, we still have three children, and yes, we still battle our local school system (this is an entire blog post in itself, or perhaps a series that will violate my ‘if you can’t say something nice’ rule.)
Yes, we’re still planning to move to small-town Ontario, and I’ve been planning and organizing around that. Dates set, storage unit booked, connecting with children’s services, and job searching. Sorting out details, networking, dates, and planning – things are really underway.
Five year old Mr. Sensitive is excited about the idea of all his toys riding in a moving van and following our minivan, just like in Toy Story. Thank you Buzz and Woody.
And some things (like housing – eep!) still need to be sorted. But that’s fine. We’re flexible, and we can skip it and move on.
