"FROM A TO B"
TRANSITIONING BETWEEN SCENES
FADE IN:
INT. IN FRONT OF YOUR COMPUTER - NOW
SCRIPTED WHIM Be aware of the space between
where one scene ends and the
next begins. Good transitions
are invisible. Bad transitions
draw attention to themselves and
suck the audience out of the
story. Yes, I am aware of Star
Wars. This exercise will help
you create smooth transitions
for your stories. Even in a
galaxy far, far away.
Two characters on a journey.
Five scenes.
Four lines of description per scene.
Only one line of dialog per scene.
SCRIPTED WHIM Use the above rules to craft a
complete story. Follow the rules
and you will be forced to rely
on your transitions to fill-in
the missing pieces of your story.
And remember, conflict, conflict,
conflict.FADE OUT:THE END
